Nivalis Nights Business Guide — Noodle Stand, Restaurants & Money

Nivalis Nights Business Guide

Quick answer: In Nivalis Nights you run food and nightlife venues, starting with a noodle stand and working up to the city's top restaurants and nightclubs. Specific costs, products and revenue are filled in from launch-build data.

How businesses work (COMMUNITY_CONFIRMED)

The loop is source → serve → grow: obtain ingredients, sell dishes, reinvest profit. From Famitsu's hands-on preview: you hire staff, set shifts (balancing suitable shifts, requested hours, and wages), choose menus, arrange ingredients, and buy fixtures.

Expanding beyond the noodle stand (COMMUNITY_CONFIRMED)

Owning more restaurants needs a "LICCY" license from the CorpSec rep Agent Teleshko, via a quest chain called Business Empire (TheGamer quest guide):

  1. Meet Teleshko in Meridian Market — he offers the license but first hands you an existing LowTown stall.
  2. Meet Brooke Hazard, the prior owner whose license was revoked.
  3. Return to Teleshko to complete the chain and earn the Tier 1 Business Permit.

Starting a business

The official description confirms the start: "Start humble with a noodle stand, then climb your way up to own the city's top venues."

Business types — confirmed so far

  • Noodle stand — your first venue (confirmed)
  • Restaurants — confirmed in the official feature list
  • Nightclubs — confirmed in the official feature list

Second-venue options (COMMUNITY_CONFIRMED)

After the permit, four choices open up (TheGamer):

Yummy CanteenIndustrial District

Most districts are locked early — The Stacks opens through the Seafaring quest. Your first staff member Banor can later move into an advisory role.

Ingredients, menu, employees, expenses, revenue — WAITING_FOR_T0_VERIFICATION

Exact costs, product prices, and profit figures are on third-party guide sites but not yet confirmed by official sources — we wait rather than guess.

Making money — WAITING_FOR_T0_VERIFICATION

Verified money-making strategies are written from live-game data after launch. The early consensus (TheGamer, Famitsu): don't expand until the ramen shop is steadily profitable — a premature second venue loses far more money than it makes.

Managers — Patch 01.10 status + how they work

Managers are the most-asked question about running a venue right now. Here's the Patch 01.10 status, what's confirmed, and what's still being verified.

Patch 01.10 status

  • Manager buying behavior — IMPROVED (OFFICIAL). Patch 01.10 (patch notes) lists "Improved manager staff behaviour when buying ingredients." This is the current answer to the launch-week over-purchasing reports below.
  • Manager restocking formula — UNKNOWN. The exact trigger conditions and formula are not documented, so we do not write a precise formula.

The 1.0 over-purchasing report (historical — fixed direction in 01.10)

At launch (1.0), a high-interaction Reddit thread reported that the 1.0 shopping-list update caused over-purchasing / abnormal charges — managers buying far more than needed and draining cash fast. This was never listed in the official Known Issues, but Patch 01.10 directly improved manager buying behavior, so treat it as a 1.0-era issue with the patch as the current answer.

The old workaround — "don't start the manager in the first hour of the day" — is outdated and unverified after Patch 01.10. Do not rely on it as the primary fix.

How managers work (COMMUNITY_CONFIRMED)

  • Managers participate in restocking — players consistently observe them buying and supplying stock. This is community-observed behavior, not an official definition.
  • The shopping list can still appear even while a manager is working, which is the source of most confusion. We note this as an FAQ fact and do not infer the underlying algorithm.

Restocking (UNKNOWN trigger, community-observed behavior)

Managers restock ingredients, but the exact trigger conditions, thresholds and formula are UNKNOWN — no official documentation describes them. We record the observed behavior without inventing numbers.

Shopping list (COMMUNITY_CONFIRMED)

The shopping list remains visible while a manager works. If it keeps appearing, that does not by itself mean the manager is broken — it's a known point of confusion.

Efficiency (COMMUNITY_REPORTED)

A player reports Business Skill Level 2 shows Manager Efficiency going 0% → 30% (Reddit). This needs an in-game screenshot to confirm; treat as community-reported.

Costs (UNKNOWN)

Exact manager costs, skill levels and schedules are still being confirmed from the live build — we won't guess those numbers.

Still reported after Patch 01.10 (COMMUNITY_REPORTED)

  • Rotten food / FIFO effect on managers — some players suspect spoiled ingredients affect manager behavior. This is still reported and not confirmed as a cause; needs reproduction.

Manager unlock & hiring (COMMUNITY_CONFIRMED)

Managers unlock when a venue reaches level 3 — the Nivalis Nights Wiki and multiple guides agree on this threshold, and venue levels rise as you hit revenue, customer-satisfaction and consecutive-profit milestones. The wiki advises pushing your first venue to level 3 before opening a second.

You don't hire a top manager straight off the street. Build a relationship with the NPC first — the higher your relationship level, the better they run the shop while you're away.

Staff — what Patch 01.10 fixed and what's still reported

Fixed in Patch 01.10 (OFFICIAL)

From the patch notes:

  • Repeated order action when ingredients require restocking — FIXED.
  • Staff order workflow — IMPROVED.

Still reported after Patch 01.10 (COMMUNITY_REPORTED)

These staff symptoms are reported after the patch and still need live reproduction (Reddit staff thread):

  • Staff stuck / not working — employees standing idle.
  • Waiters cleaning instead of taking orders — reported symptom.
  • Closing the cleaning toggle but still cleaning — needs reproduction.
  • Customers queueing while staff are idle — needs reproduction.
  • Staff spinning — needs reproduction.

Possible workaround (COMMUNITY_REPORTED): clearing rotten food reportedly helps staff recover. This is a community suggestion, not a confirmed fix — and the link between rotten food and staff behavior is not established as a cause.

Industrial Refrigerated Storage — acknowledged bug (FIX IN PROGRESS)

The Industrial Refrigerated Storage Unit nominally adds +100 refrigerated storage, but some players report the capacity does not increase after placing it (Steam discussion).

  • Official status: a 505 Games representative confirmed the team has tracked the issue and is working on a fix — officially acknowledged, fix in progress.
  • Community alternative (COMMUNITY_REPORTED): the Deep Freeze is reported to work, but this is a single community report — treat as a candidate alternative, not a confirmed fix.

Business & Barter skills — fixed in 01.10 (OFFICIAL)

Patch 01.10 also fixed skill levelling:

  • Business Skill levelling — FIXED.
  • Barter Skill levelling — FIXED.
